About
KBJ (Kairo’s Brave Journey) was born out of my lived experience as a mother navigating the unimaginable. After my son Kairo suffered a AVM rupture at the age of 2 years old, our lives were permanently changed. I was forced to become not only his caregiver, but his advocate, researcher, and voice — while holding together our family through trauma, recovery, and uncertainty. KBJ began as a way to document Kairo’s journey, but it quickly grew into a platform rooted in advocacy, education, and support for families facing medical complexity, system failures, and life after crisis. What started as survival became purpose — turning pain into protection for others. Pain into Purpose, and Purpose into Power

Our Services & Approach

At KBJ Project, we understand that caring for a medically complex child impacts the entire family, not just the primary caregiver. Our services are designed to support families holistically—centering caregivers, honoring sibling experiences, and strengthening family systems through compassion, education, and advocacy.

Our work is rooted in lived experience and informed by the realities families face at home, in hospitals, schools, and public spaces.

Our Philosophy

We believe:
• Families are experts in their own lives
• Compassion must be taught and modeled
• Preparation is a form of protection
• Siblings deserve support, not responsibility
• Caregiving should never be isolating
KBJ Project exists to ensure families are supported not only in moments of crisis, but throughout every stage of their journey.
